1. Why do you choose our department study?
Choosing Tunghai University to pursue my undergraduate degree in Food Science was a decision that I will not regret. THU provides me with a comfortable environment to study starting from the campus, library, and open space that blend well with the surrounding nature and awesome school buildings. Here, we get many interesting laboratory experiments that we will experience almost every semester. The professors and staffs are also very kind and always there to help us although I am an international student, so even though I live far away from my country, it still feels like home.
2. Does the THU help you study? Like scholarship? Live? Or other?
Definitely. Tunghai University offers many scholarships such as scholarships for international students and overseas students, and many other scholarship opportunities that you can get during the period of your study. If we encounter a problem when we are in Taiwan, the Office International Relationship will always be ready to help us. I also received some helps from the OIR, from making the Alien Residence Certificate (ARC), National Health Insurance (NHI), extending the ARC, providing informations that we want to ask related to university life, exchange program, scholarship, and work permit. Moreover, OIR also organized many events for international students at Tunghai University.
3. Have you learned and gotten something in THU so far?
I get many experiences as I study in Tunghai and living in Taiwan. Here I learn to use Chinese and so it improves my Chinese skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing, especially in food science-related fields. I also made many new friends from Taiwan, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Japan, and Hong Kong, which improved my social and language skills in English and Chinese, I also learned different cultures of each country.
4. Will you suggest your country’s people come to THU to study?
Absolutely. When we study abroad we will gain many experiences that we will not get if we just stay in our country. In terms of the campus environment, Tunghai is an environmental university with beautiful architectures including one of the most popular buildings in Taiwan, which is Luce Chapel. Also, THU supports sustainable energy use in every corner in the campus. In conclusion, I will recommend my fellow Indonesians to come and study in THU.
